Mobile Regional Airport Posts Second Consecutive Month With Significant Increase In Passenger Traffic
Airlines Serving Mobile Report 9.9% Increase In September
The Mobile Airport Authority (MAA) released passenger enplanement numbers for September 2016 as reported by the airlines serving Mobile Regional Airport (MOB). A total of 25,723 passengers boarded commercial aircraft at MOB, compared to September 2015 when 23,583 passengers flew commercially from Mobile. This marks the first time since 2007 there have been two consecutive months of back to back passenger increases of this magnitude at MOB.
The market share for each airline serving Mobile Regional Airport is as follows: Delta 45.5%, American 30.7%, and United 23.8%.
The total number of passengers using Mobile Regional Airport year to date in 2016 is 445,709.
Mobile Airport Authority Executive Director, Roger Wehner stated, “Every turnaround starts somewhere. We have had multiple months of record setting passenger growth. Our passengers are being served by larger aircraft from our airline partners. Competition has driven fares down over $80 per ticket on average and that trend is continuing. Our negotiations with new service providers are progressing well. Our action plan is bearing results and we will continue to drive towards our objectives of creating the best airport we can for our community.”
Airlines serving Mobile Regional Airport are American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines. These carriers serve 5 non-stop destinations from Mobile, which include Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston.
