Mobile Regional Airport Starts 2017 with 11% Increase in Passenger Enplanements In January
Mobile Regional Airport today released passenger enplanement numbers for January 2017 as reported by the airlines serving Mobile. A total of 23,087 passengers boarded commercial aircraft at Mobile Regional Airport in January 2017 compared to January 2016 when 20,727 passengers flew from Mobile Regional Airport.
The airport has seen positive growth for 9 consecutive months. This marks the longest streak of growth since the mid 1990's. The airport finished 2016 with a 4.0% increase in total traffic with over 600,000 passengers utilizing Mobile Regional as their airport of choice.
"2016 was a year of growth for Mobile Regional Airport as fares came down and the residents in the region started to see the benefits of flying from this airport”, said Brian Belcher, airport spokesperson. Belcher continued, "We believe 2017 will continue this trend of growth as American Airlines recently added larger aircraft and First Class service on its Dallas and Charlotte routes from Mobile. We want to thank the travelers in the region for choosing Mobile Regional as their airport.”
