COVID-19

MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Airport Authority continues to work closely with our federal, state and local partners regarding the latest developments with the coronavirus (COVID-19). Travelers are encouraged to check with their specific airlines regarding any potential schedule changes to flights from the Mobile Regional Airport and Mobile Downtown Airport.

“The safety of our customers and employees is a top priority.  We will monitor information on a daily basis and implement safety measures as directed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other health organizations,” says Chris Curry, President Mobile Airport Authority.

MAA has an Airport Communicable Disease Response Plan that has recently been updated. It provides the basis for a multi-agency response to a public health disaster/emergency at either Airport. The Plan is reviewed and updated annually. Partners include the Mobile County Health Department, Mobile Police Department, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Mobile County Emergency Management Agency, Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection.

In addition to regular cleaning procedures, our staff is cleaning frequently touched surfaces more often. These include, but are not limited to handrails, door handles, and armrests. The MAA has also placed additional hand sanitizing dispensers throughout the terminal for passengers and employees.

Passengers are encouraged to follow the CDC’s guidance to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
    • Stay home when you are sick.
    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

UPDATE 3/31/20 -   As the health and safety of our passengers is our top priority, in light of the spread of COVID-19, we are temporarily closing the Executive Club starting on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. The Mobile Airport Authority will provide notice on our website when the club reopens.
