JOB SUMMARY

Responsible and accountable for the smooth running of the Mobile Airport Authority computer systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines.  Responsible for implementation and maintenance of all internal client computing needs.  Responsible for analyzing and directing all IT related activities within the organization and ensuring continuity of computer services for users throughout the organization through planning, technical leadership, and project coordination.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage information technology and computer systems.  Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations.  Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures.  Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.  Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.  Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time.  Audit systems and assess their outcomes.  Preserve assets, information security and control structures.  Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness.  Present a professional image as a representative of the company.  Forecast costs, equipment and personnel needs for projects and programs as required and related to MIS operations.  Stay abreast of the latest developments in MIS technology and remain highly technically competent at all levels of data processing while striving for enhanced user productivity through implementation of new software technology where applicable, and the implementation of policies that more effectively utilize MIS resources.  Prepare long and short-range plans for application selection, systems development, and acquisition of the resources needed to support them.  Assure responsiveness of long-range plans to corporate objectives.  Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and equipment suppliers; maintain professional working relationships with co-workers and every level of management.

Setup and install computer hardware, software, printers, PDA’s and various networks.  Maintain and repair phone lines and cable connections.  Work on terminal paging and sound systems.  Work on visual displays including FIDS and BIDS.  Inspect and install wireless internet.  Work on servers and other related computer components, satellite, TV and cellphones.  Provide training on electronic hardware and software.  Monitor Regional parking lot functions.  Assist in the maintenance and repair of airport facilities outside of IT essential job duties by performing on an as needed basis, other job related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Must have demonstrable skills, proven professional experience and detailed knowledge of industry’s best practice processes.  Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems.  Expertise in data centre management and data governance.  Ability to train personnel; communication proficiency; teamwork; technical capacity; thoroughness; and decision making.

Minimum Training and Experience

Bachelor’s degree of IT Certification in Computer Science, MIS or similar field.  Proven working experience as an IT Manager or relevant experience.  Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.

Environmental Requirements

Generally work in an office setting; must be able to adapt to changing work environments to meet client needs.  Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
