Mobile Airport Authority Signs 40 Year Lease Extension With Airbus Americas Engineering
The Mobile Airport Authority today announced that Airbus Americas Engineering, Inc. has signed a 40- year lease extension for the Airbus Engineering Center at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley.
The Airbus Engineering Center opened in January 2007 with a goal of housing 150 engineers primarily focused on cabin engineering and design on the new A350 XWB aircraft. Today, the center is home to more than 200 engineers and support staff working on all of the commercial aircraft products in the Airbus family.
Airbus also has two other facilities on Mobile Airport Authority property: Airbus Defense & Space Military Aircraft at Mobile Regional Airport, and an A320 Family production facility at the Aeroplex at Brookley.
“Mobile and the Mobile Airport Authority are proud to be key business and real estate partners with Airbus. We have co-developed three different facilities on our two campuses all with significant long-term lease relationships. We look forward to continuing our dedicated support of Airbus’s drive for global competitiveness,” said Roger Wehner of Mobile Airport Authority.
“Airbus is pleased to extend our commitment to Mobile and our relationship with the Mobile Airport Authority, which is a key member of the team that continues to put Mobile on the map as an aerospace hub in the U.S.,” said Barry Eccleston, CEO of Airbus Americas, Inc.
