MOB to Hold Full-Scale Emergency Plan Exercise

MOBILE, Ala. (August 15, 2025) – The Mobile Airport Authority (MAA) will put its emergency plans into action next week. On August 19, Mobile Regional Airport (MOB) will transform into the scene of a simulated in-flight emergency, bringing together first responders, hospitals, and multiple agencies for a realistic, FAA-required disaster drill.

 

About 40 volunteers will serve as patient/victim actors in the mock aircraft accident, helping emergency crews train for triage, treatment, and transport in a controlled environment.

 

The exercise will begin at 9 a.m. and will run for about three hours. There will be no impact to normal scheduled operations. MOB passengers, local businesses and neighbors should be aware of emergency response vehicles operating around the Airport during the drill.

MEDIA NOTES:

  • This is a drill. There is no actual emergency.
  • Media will be escorted to the airfield to safely observe and capture photos/videos
  • Access to certain locations will be restricted for safety

The FAA requires airports with a Class I Airport Operating Certificate, such as Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), to hold a full-scale emergency plan exercise at least once every 36 consecutive months.
